We will present achromatic and monochromatic effects based on a new class of non-holographic asymmetric microstructures. These new effects can be realized in both transparent foils that are used to protect personalized data in ID documents as well as in partially metallized foils applied on banknotes. They are especially powerful for integration in self-explaining and story-telling designs.
