We introduce a photonic processing method for thin metal films that exploits a self-assembly process to generate a nanostructured surface with overt plasmonic characteristics. We discuss the key parameters that enable tuning of the resulting optical effect, as well as developments with materials and manufacturing methods commensurate with the anti-counterfeit industry.
