To celebrate 30 years of security production in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, Kurz Banknote Security together with OVD Kinegram AG has created a special anniversary note series: Tree of Life. 
Each note reinterprets this symbol of the tree using different materials and processes in the foil technology. The Idea was to give three designers the same task: to create a tree that integrates beautifully into the banknote design with whichever foil technology they fancy. 
The results were three completely different approaches – creating a series that tells the story of the tree through the time of day. 

•    Sample banknote “Day”: Foil technology – perfectly registered metallisation with golden optical appearance.
•    Sample banknote “Dusk”: Foil technology – High Definition Metallisation enabling a greyscale and halftone-based screened image.
•    Sample banknote “Night”: Foil technology – dark blue to green colour shifting layer
stack.

The specialty of each sample banknote and the link to the materials and processes used will be discussed and the versatility and the multifaceted possibilities regarding design integration with the banknote print explained.
