This paper examines how the reading of security labels by a smartphone can be made more security. We consider three approaches. Firstly, we look at integrating a proprietary security feature at the packaging fabrication stage. A second example is a hidden a QR code, not printed but made of a DOVID-like feature, designed to be visible only by using smartphones. Thirdly, we consider a new way to use fluorescent inks to hide a QR code by using the fluorescence excitation time measurements.
