In autumn 2019 students at the Art Center, Pasedena (CA), students investigated the future of banknotes. A series of interviews uncovered some surprising pain points as they relate to the usage of cash. From this, a future banknote that envisions a dual positioning between its physical nature and a hybridized digital system has been proposed, which will be described and explained in this paper.
